Social Media has taken on a huge role in the world of sports. Each day, more and more athletes are tweeting about their lives, their team, and their performance. The NFL has recognized this new medium of communication and has enacted their own social media policy. The NBA is following suit with a social media policy of their own for the 09-10 season. When professional athletes start utilizing Social Media, it gives us, the fans, a unique opportunity to become greater involved with the stars we love to follow. For the athletes, it gives them a chance to expand their reach and fan base and build an online empire.
