3 Upselling Strategies For Shopify That Work Wonders

Heyyyyy Everybody, Justin Cener here! Talking about upselling strategies for your Shopify Store today and I have a really great set of upsells you can implement ASAP. These are proven to work and I’m certainly not the one who invented these.

All you need to do is pay attention to what’s going on with other big, competing stores and take notes.

These three upselling strategies are not at all unique to eCom. In fact, they can be used for selling anything and everything from t-shirts to dropshipped AliExpress products to digital products and even services.

Upsell Strategy #1 – The Same Product

Just as the name implies, you are offering the exact same product to the customer in the upsell cycle. Why? Because you already know they like it. This works incredibly well in Q4 when you’re nearing the holiday frenzy. Position and angle this upsell as “perfect as a gift” or “buy one for a friend.”

Functionality wise, you just select the exact same product in the Boost Sales Shopify Upsell app. Nothing special. Literally the same exact product.

Upsell Strategy #2 – The Best Seller

This is more of a combination scaling and upselling tactic. You have a product that is selling well? That is awesome – you want to position this item as your #1 upsell.

This does two smart things: scales your winning product with more impressions from buyers AND increases your upsell conversion rate since you know you are presenting a hot, successful product in front of the customer. Win-Win!

Upsell Strategy #3 – The New Product

Think of this like free impressions on a new product launch – but the best part here is that those impressions are coming from people deep into the buying process. Remember, these are upsells which are triggered on buying intent like Adding to Cart. This means these are quality customers.

A quality customer seeing a new product… and then adding it via upsell? That is a GREAT signal that you have a really strong product on your hand.
